Jorge A. Benavente, O.D.
Dr Benavente graduated from the Indiana University School Optometry in 1977. He is past President of the Indiana Optometry Board, and has served 16 years on the board. Dr Benavente has served as a Clinical Examiner for the National Board of Optometry for 11 years.
Dr Benavente's experience includes being a clinical instructor at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago Illinois. Dr Benavente has represented the Indiana Optometry Board at the annual meeting of the Association of Regulatory Boards in Optometry since 1993. Dr Benavente has served on the National Board Review Committee of the Association of Regulatory Board in Optometry. As a committee member he participate on the review of the national board examination questions that are given to the students taking their national board for licensure in states that accept national boards. Dr Benavente's last year on the board was in 2006. |

Dr. Benavente uses the Retinal Camera to document and track ocular disease that are present. Diabetics are good candidates for retinal camera documentation and tracking. There are other disease that Dr Benavente tracks. Dr. Benavente will suggest retinal photos if he feel they are necessary.

Our examination starts with your case history. This is when you tell us why you are being examined. The clinical exam starts with various test which include tests for glaucoma,examination of the cornea, lens, vitreous,optic nerve,retina, visual fields,pupils,eye muscles,and other tests that Dr Benavente thinks are necessary. We dilated all patients with diabetes and other chronic diseases like hypertension. |
